Slovak Gym for Life Challenge offered the audience a unique experience full of motion, creativity, and emotion. On a single stage, teams of various age groups, skill levels, and countries came together to present their original choreographies and movement stories.
During the festival, dozens of groups performed. In the competitive section, teams from nine countries participated, while the GymGala Show featured teams from three additional countries. The global representation surpassed last year’s record. So did the number of performers, with over 1,200 participants presenting 78 competitive pieces. Audience attendance was also record-breaking, as the Trnava City Hall was completely full on both days.
The festival, supported by the International Visegrad Fund, fulfilled its mission of fostering collaboration between countries and communities. Groups from Hungary, Poland, and the Czech Republic, as well as Austria, Ukraine, Serbia, Azerbaijan, Lithuania, and other countries, took part.
We saw performances from the youngest children, some standing before a full audience for the first time, as well as seniors for whom gymnastics and movement are lifelong passions. Girls, boys, gymnasts from all disciplines, and athletes with disabilities performed. Both youth who train daily and compete in various sports and dance competitions, and those for whom gymnastics or dance is a supplementary activity, were represented.
Diversity, inclusion, joy of movement, blending with music, friendships, self-expression through movement… a great atmosphere, support, and a sporting and cultural experience—this is what the Festival of Movement Compositions has been bringing for 30 years.
The program also featured awards for the best performances of each day. The winner of Saturday’s program was the piece “Be Happy” by Česká asociace sportu pro všechny, competing in the “Golden Age” category (50+). Their performance won over both the jury and the audience with its positive energy and joy of movement, even at an older age.
On Sunday, the highest-rated piece was “Deti vojen” from Donaldgym Ludanice, which highlighted a current global issue and surely touched the hearts of every viewer. This Sunday-winning piece was also rightly named the Absolute Winner of the festival.
As always, the performance by Donaldgym’s dancers did not disappoint. Vladimír Káčer and his team delivered a topical piece, meticulously crafted in choreography, music selection, props, and costumes, but above all, with passion and a clear expression of their leader’s vision.
The event once again confirmed that movement compositions can unite sports, art, and people across generations. The festival offered not only a sporting but also a cultural experience, demonstrating the power of a collective performance on a single stage.
GymGala Show
The jubilee 30th edition couldn’t go without a celebration. The GymGala Show with Mária Čírová sold out the Trnava City Hall. Mária’s spontaneity created an electrifying atmosphere and eased the nerves of participants, for whom sharing the backstage and stage with a star of our music scene was an unforgettable experience.
The show offered the audience an evening full of energy, emotions, and exceptional choreographies. The program opened with young gymnasts from KGŠ Slávia Trnava and Happy Gym Pezinok, who showcased the pure joy of movement, which is the most important for beginner athletes.
A poetic atmosphere was brought by the piece Biely sen, symbolically capturing the journey of a sports gymnast. The beam took center stage, and the impressive performance by gymnasts from the local club showed that even traditional gymnastics apparatus can be a powerful artistic element.
The choreography One Path, Many Stories by the sports aerobics team symbolically connected different generations.
Among the most impressive moments was the fairytale-like performance 7 Zhavranelí Bratia from Donaldgym Ludanice, which surely gave more than one audience member goosebumps.
The audience was also thrilled by international guests—the Austrian group Tanzhause Hohenems captivated everyone with This is Us, while the Czech TJ Sokol Poděbrady delivered the energetic piece Give Me Everything.
A big round of applause went to Streetbeats Crew, whose dance performance got the whole hall moving.
Modern gymnasts were also featured in the performance by KMG Laser, showcasing their gymnastic artistry. The festival celebration wouldn’t be complete without the performance of the “grand” piece under the direction of Emília Fialová, as “Girls Without Age” filled the entire dance floor.
The entire evening was tied together by musical performances from Mária Čírová, who performed alongside gymnasts from Danubie Bratislava and TJ Rapid Bratislava, giving the gala a unique artistic dimension. The combination of live music, sports, and movement art created an exceptional atmosphere where the audience became part of every moment on stage. The evening finale also brought a delightful surprise with exotic dancers, symbolically closing the celebration of the 30th edition of the Festival of Movement Compositions.
The jubilee 30th edition showcased not only the beauty of movement compositions but also the strength of the community behind them.
The organizers express their sincere thanks to all performers, coaches, clubs, volunteers, partners, and audience members who created an unforgettable atmosphere in the packed Trnava City Hall. Special thanks go to Mária Čírová and all collaborators for the unique fusion of music and movement. It was thanks to them that the GymGala Show became a fitting celebration of 30 years of movement, creativity, and friendship within the gymnastics community.
The event was held with the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Visegrad Fund, the City of Trnava, and the Trnava Self-Governing Region.
